Exact Fit Technology™
It been a couple of years in development but we're now in production on our new Electric Mountain Drive™ assist system. It features the same multi-speed operation as our state of the art Electric Mid-Drive™ for recumbents. You get it all, higher top speed, climb steeper hills, lighter weight for easy pedaling, and more efficiency for greater range.
If you've looked at electric assists from other manufacturers, you might notice that EcoSpeed is different. We don't just buy cheap hub motors from Asia or try to make a one size fits all generic conversion kit.
We design our systems ourselves and make the critical components in the US. Exact Fit Technology™ is our term for electric assist systems that fit your bike exactly, like they were installed at the factory. Advanced US manufacturing lets us do this. We create parts by computer with turnaround times measured in days. If we don't have the proper parts to fit your bike, we can often just make them.
Exact fit means no U-bolts or flat plates that can crush thin walled bicycle frames. Precision machined Exact Fit Technology clamps and brackets spread forces evenly over a wide area to eliminate any possibility of frame damage.
At EcoSpeed, we make high-performance electric bicycle conversion kits. With the patented Electric Mid-Drive kit that we manufacture and now the Electric Mountain Drive, our customers can turn high quality bicycles from other manufacturers into high performance electric-assisted bicycles.
Our electric conversions are made with extreme attention to detail and quality. The systems are designed to compliment the styling of your bike. Parts are CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum for rock solid durability and then anodized for sharp appearance and scuff resistance. We use the largest motors the law allows with external controllers to shed heat efficiently and crank out the power reliably.
The key feature of our Electric Mid-Drive and Mountain Drive is that they drive a bike's chain. This allows the motor to "see" most or all of a bike's gear range. What that means is that performance is radically increased compared to single speed drives such as hub motors. You can climb any hill and go as fast or faster than the law allows -- all with a small and light motor that doesn't detract from pedaling performance.
A bicycle equipped with one of our drives is outrageously fun. Accelerate through the gears like a motorcycle then shut the motor down and cruise in silence holding your speed with the pedals alone. With our fully decoupled drive systems there's absolutely no motor drag when it's shut off. When you come to a hill touch the throttle again and sail up without ever shifting or slowing your cadence. Fly around corners under power. Just be careful not to strain your cheek muscles from grinning too much.
With the EcoSpeed EMD or EMtnD, a bike has enough performance to match a car in around town driving. That means you can forget about high gas prices -- you can go over 500 miles on a dollars worth of electricity. That's even up to 20 times better than an electric car or gas scooter.
Upright bikes are not quite as aerodynamic as recumbents, so the EMtnD equipped bikes won't be quite as fast. Because of that we gear the EMtnD lower, for stump pulling low gear performance. Put one on your long cargo bike and carry passengers up hills! Or, put one on your mountain bike and stop carrying it up the steep trails.
Electric bikes are legally bikes and can be ridden in bike lanes and on bike trails in most locations. That means big safety advantages over motorcycles and scooters because you don't have to mix with automobiles. Or, get caught in traffic.
