Batteries are the key component of any electric vehicle or bicycle. Battery purchase and replacement constitutes almost 100% of your operating cost. The cost of electricity to charge them is insignificant in comparison. So, choosing the right battery is the most important decision you will make.
At EcoSpeed we try to take an agnostic attitude towards batteries. Most e-bike, scooter, and electric vehicle manufacturers try to lock you in to their battery solution. That means when it comes time to replace your battery pack, you have no choice but to pay them whatever they're asking for whatever they have. We don't do that. Battery technology is advancing rapidly today, so we want to make sure our customers can always take advantage of the latest technology. Or, take advantage of the lowest cost one. The important thing is that you get to choose.
Below are the battery options we offer. If you want to choose a battery from somewhere else, or even put together your own, we will support you in doing that. Ours are not the cheapest, but we do give you a complete integrated solution with everything you need using high quality batteries. The lowest cost packs are often just a bunch of cells taped together with wires hanging out.
These include everything you need to power up your Electric Mid-Drive unit: battery, battery case, fuse, power switch, mount to attach the battery to your bike, and all wiring. With one of these batteries, an EMD, and the proper frame adapter for your bike, you have a complete system.
Lead-Acid, Powersonic 10Ah, 36V
High quality starved electrolyte Powersonic lead acid batteries save on cost. Useable energy is about 290 Wh. Not recommended for use with the Powerpack Motor. Packaged in a Topeak MTX style case that fits into a track on top of a special pannier rack. The case also features extra storage space for locks or other small items. Case dimensions: 12.5"L x 6.5"W x 7.5"H (320mm x 165mm x 190mm). Weight with case: about 23 lbs (10.5 kg). Includes case, MTX pannier rack, fuse, switch box, 1.2 Amp charger.

Lithium Iron Phosphate, 10Ah, 38V
Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) is the newest member of the lithium battery family. It features an extremely long life span -- 4 to 10 years in normal use and can be rapid charged in as little as 20 minutes for some types. Lithium iron phosphate batteries have an extremely flat discharge voltage curve, so they can supply full power right up to the end. Also, they are much more tolerant of deep cycling than other lithium chemistries so a LiFePO4 battery can often take the place of a larger lithium ion polymer or other lithium battery. These are high capacity LiFePO4 batteries that pack more energy into a given weight than most. As such, they should be limited to a maximum discharge current of 3C (3 x Capacity or 30 Amps for the 10Ah size). Note that this means that the Powerpack motor should not be used with this size. Also, rapid charging should be limited to 1C, or 10A. Useable energy is about 375 Wh. Weight: about 10 lbs (4.5 kg), Dimensions: 14.8" L x 3.6" W x 3.6" H (375mm x 90mm x 90mm). Lithium Iron Phosphate, 15Ah, 38V
A new second generation Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) in a mid-range 15Ah size. Useable energy is about 575 Wh. This new battery features a replaceable cell balancing BMS and exceptionally light weight, 4 lbs less than our previous 15Ah. Weight: about 11 lbs (5 kg), Dimensions: TBD. If you have a modest amount of electrical and mechanical skills, you can put together your own battery system and save yourself some money. The easiest solution is to wire together some generic lead-acid batteries which are available everywhere and purchase an SLA charger off the web. You can also purchase lithium batteries and chargers from other suppliers. Whatever you choose to do, we will support you with technical advice, mounting pieces, and the proper connectors and wiring.

Includes all the wires and connectors you'll need to build your own 36V lead-acid battery system from 3 12V SLA batteries. Also includes a fuse and a switch box and and a charger port with 2-pin inline connector.

Topeak MTX Trunk Bag
One of the best ways we've found to carry batteries on a bike. These bags are made to slide into a special groove on top of a pannier rack. A quick release latch and heavy duty carrying handle make it easy to carry your battery indoors for charging. Dual Parallel Battery Adapter
Wiring harness with two big Schottkey diodes allows two battery packs to be connected in parallel without any danger of one battery feeding current into the other, even if they are not the same battery type. Each diode can handle up to 2700 Watts per battery pack with less than 1.5 percent power loss at full power. Works with all of our battery systems and allows packs to be combined for greater range or flexibility.
